Recycling Lexington has a strong curbside recycling program. Use this program and encourage others to recycle in your neighborhood, as well as businesses you patronize or organizations you belong to.

LFUCG Planning Programs: Citizen hearing and oversight committees set the direction for Lexington’s urban planning processes including Greenspace, Greenway, and downtown master plans, infill incentives, bikeways, transit and pedway projects, environmental planning and zoning:
Urban Forestry is part of the Public Works division
LFUCG Environmental Commission works on area clean-up, greenway and wildlife projects. The Commission also recognizes environmental contributions through annual awards.
Department of Environmental Quality governs water and air quality programs. This will include the city’s participation in carbon footprint monitoring under the Mayor’s Climate Change Agreement, as well as compliance with EPA air and water quality regulations.
Fayette County Soil Conservation Service Local branch of the state service offers technical assistance to county land owners, gives tree seedlings to land owners and scholarships to students in agriculture and natural resource fields.
